Congratulations to the University of Florida and University of Central Florida students Steven Torres and Olga M. Trejos Kweyete, winners of the 2016 Media Plan Case Competition. Each will receive a $5,000 scholarship award.
Edgar Castellanos and Danielle Cole, DePaul University students, also received $3,000 scholarship awards as the first runner-up team.
The winning teams were announced during a Networking Reception held at the Newseum in Washington, DC. Over 500 media industry professionals from around the country attended the annual event.
The Washington Media Scholars Foundation is proud to announce that Bob Schieffer of CBS News will be the special guest speaker at the 2016 Networking Reception.
The reception will be held at the Newseum in Washington, DC on Thursday, June 9. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. with the award presentation starting at 7:00 p.m.

The event celebrates the achievements of 12 undergraduate finalists participating in the Media Plan Case Competition. The evening begins with an award ceremony announcing the winners of the National Excellence in Media Award and the distribution of $10,000 in scholarship awards.

The Qualification Round of the 2015 Media Plan Case Competition has officially launched.
From now until February 11, 2015, college undergraduate students are invited to compete for one of 30 semi-final spots. Students who reach the semi-final – or second round of the competition – have a one in five chance to win an all-expense-paid trip to Washington, DC for Media Scholars Week and the finals of the Media Plan Case Competition. Ultimately, the first and second place teams win a portion of $10,000 in scholarship awards.
The competition is open to all college students, regardless of class year or field of study. Participation is free.

Twelve undergraduate students recently received academic scholarships through the Media Fellows Program. Click here for a full list of the most recent scholarship recipients.
This marks the second application and distribution period for Fellows Program scholarships in 2013. These grants support the academic development of undergraduates dedicated to pursuing a career related to the public policy advertising industry.
The Washington Media Scholars Foundation coordinates two application periods annually, with scholarship distributions occurring prior to the fall and spring semesters.
Applications for the summer distribution are due by 11:59 p.m. EDT on July 16, 2014.
